Step 1

DIY Cannabis-Infused Simple Syrup

If you have cooked with cannabis before, you are likely well aware that it can be a bit of a process. This basic canna-syrup recipe is approachable and can be used to elevate any mocktail recipe of your choosing.

  • 2 grams of finely chopped or ground cannabis
  • 3 cups of filtered water
  • 3 cups of fine granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin
  • Cheesecloth

  1. Dissolve the sugar and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil while stirring (just like you would for a simple syrup).
  2. Add the ground cannabis to the boiling mixture and cover for 20 minutes. Observe it, and keep the boil gently, so you don’t scorch the bud. This process will create the decarboxylation reaction required to convert the cannabinoids into a digestible form.
  3. Add the vegetable glycerin and simmer for another 5-6 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Pour the solution through the cheesecloth into a jar.  Voila!  You have your canna-syrup.

Make a drink!

The sky’s the limit in how you choose to use your canna-syrup, but here is one basic recipe to help inspire your mocktail-making process!

Step 2

Budjito Recipe (alcohol-free!)

  • 10 mint leaves (set one or two aside for garnish)
  • 1 ounce of fresh lime juice
  • ¾  cup of club soda
  • 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Sugar or simple syrup
    • DIY Cannabis-Infused Simple Syrup (start with a tsp and move up from there)

  1. Combine the lime, lemon, and mint leaves in a glass.  Muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients – sweetening to taste with the sugar.
  3. Serve over ice with a few sprigs of mint for garnish.

With the canna syrup, start low and go slow.  Remember that edibles take a little longer to kick in than smoking!  Depending on the cannabis flower chosen, potencies will vary.  Always err on the side of caution, lower-dose drinks to start, then adjust as you see fit in the future. Enjoy!
